Dom Receives 2007 Horton Smith Award

On March 31, Dom was presented with the 2007 Horton Smith Award from The Philadelphia PGA Section for his outstanding contributions to developing and improving education opportunities for PGA golf professionals. He received this award based upon his efforts to organize, host and speak at education programs for his peers including the Philadelphia PGA's 2007 Teaching Summit.

Dom also is one of 16 members nationwide of the PGA of America's PGA Master Professional Faculty and he was founder of the Philadelphia PGA Instruction Committee in 2001 and remains co-chairperson overseeing the section's teaching-related education programs.

“Receiving an education award from my peers is quite an honor," says Dom, "since education is my core business.”

Dom adds, "This past winter we enhanced our school’s ability to deliver world-class instruction via two highly-regarded programs when I became both a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Certified Fitness Instructor and a Golfing Machine Authorized Instructor."

TPI is the leading certification program for golf instructors to incorporate a fuller understanding of how the body works during the swing and Golfing Machine certification is based on a thorough understanding of how to create an efficient golf swing based on how various body parts move during the swing.

“Both programs match our school's philosophy perfectly," explains Dom, "as they have improved our ability to create personalized solutions for every individual who visits our school.  Like our teaching, both programs insist that there is no one method that will work for all golfers, instead they believe in matching instruction to the golfer's individual circumstance."

Unlike most golf industry certifications, both TPI and Golfing Machine require a rigorous test in order to earn certification.  Dom scored over 99 percent in four separate tests in earning Golfing Machine Authorized Instructor status and 90 percent in becoming a TPI Certified Fitness Instructor.
